Blufftop Inn & Suites is ideally located one block from the Morro Bay waterfront, within easy walking distance of the beach, Embarcadero, shops, and local restaurants. Our Morro Bay hotel sits right along California’s scenic Highway 1 in San Luis Obispo County, about midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It’s a perfect stopover for travelers exploring Big Sur, Pismo Beach, or Hearst Castle.

The closest airport is San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP), located just 16 miles from Morro Bay. SBP offers several direct flights daily, and it’s easy to reach the hotel—just rent a car, take Route 12 bus service, or book a short rideshare trip.

Morro Bay is surrounded by charming Central Coast towns. To the north, you’ll find Cayucos, Cambria, San Simeon, and Harmony, and to the south are San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande, and Oceano. Each offers its own unique attractions, wineries, and coastal views.

No, we don’t currently offer an on-site guest laundry, but there are several laundromats just a few blocks away for your convenience.

Yes, in certain circumstances we may offer special rates. We encourage guests looking to book three or more rooms, or those planning to stay for four or more nights, to contact the hotel directly at via email at [email protected]. We can check current promotions and see if you qualify for a discounted extended stay or group rate that may not be available online.

No, the property is not pet-friendly, and pets are not permitted to stay within the rooms or within vehicles in the parking lot. If there are signs of a pet within the room (i.e. crates, beds, food/water bowls, pet hair, etc.) the guests will be charged applicable cleaning fees. We recommend guests traveling with pets stay at the various other hotels in Morro Bay that accept pets. 

Yes, as required by ADA regulations, the property is ADA compliant and does accept service animals. 

No, the property does not serve breakfast. However, guests are encouraged to try the many different breakfast and café options located nearby. Some of our favorites include Dorn’s Breakers Café or Carla’s Country Kitchen. 

No, unfortunately there is no pool, hot tub or spa at the property. We invite all guests to explore Morro Rock and the beach which is a leisurely 15 to 20-minute walk along the waterfront. 

Yes. We offer specially designed ADA rooms located on the ground floor. These rooms include wide door openings, accessible bathrooms with roll-in showers, and ADA-compliant parking is provided on-site. Please ensure you book an "Accessible" room type online to guarantee these features.

A valid form of identification such as a driver’s license or passport and matching credit/debit card are required to be physically presented at check-in. Unfortunately, we cannot accept pictures of either requirement at check-in. 

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards, as well as debit cards and cash. A valid credit card is required at the time of booking to guarantee the reservation.

Check-in can occur at any time between 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily. The office closes at 10:00 PM so guests who have not checked-in or contacted the property for alternative check-in procedures will forfeit their reservation and be charged a one-night penalty as a no-show. 

The check-out time is at 11:00 AM on the day of check-out. Please keep in mind that all times are based on local times (Pacific Standard Time). 

We offer express check-out! Simply drop your key in the drop box near the office door. Full instructions are provided at check-in for your convenience.

The cancellation policy is 72 hours prior to 3 PM on the day of arrival (Pacific Standard Time). For example, if you have a reservation for June 15th, the reservation needs to be cancelled before 3 PM on June 12th to avoid cancellation penalties. 

For cancellations within the 72-hour window, the penalty is the cost of the first night including all applicable taxes and fees, per room. This cancellation policy is applicable for reservations made directly through our hotel website. Reservations made through other channels or third-party websites will be subject to those respective and applicable cancellation policies. 

In order to cancel a reservation made through the direct hotel website, click on the “Reservations” button in the top right corner of the home page. Then look in the top right corner again for the “Cancel Bookings” options. Once you enter your reservation number and email address, press the “Cancel Booking” button to cancel the reservation. Alternatively, you can also call the hotel directly at 805-772-3333 to request a cancellation or confirm that the reservation has been cancelled. Please note that cancellations cannot be requested by email and that any request for cancellation that is not confirmed by phone shall be subject to applicable cancellation polices and penalties. 

No, we do not have the ability to cancel or modify reservations from a third-party websites such as Booking.com, Expedia, or Hotels.com. For those reservations, please contact those companies directly to cancel or modify your booking. 

Yes! Free on-site parking is available for guests on a first-come, first-served basis. If our lot is full, there’s ample 72-hour street parking right next to the property.

Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is provided to all guests.

Yes, the entire property and all guest rooms are non-smoking. In order ensure all guests have an enjoyable stay, guests are directed to smoke along the sidewalk of the property and away from the office. If there are signs of smoking or smells in the room, the guest will be charged applicable cleaning fees. 

Hearst Castle is approximately 30 miles north of the hotel in San Simeon. The scenic drive along coastal Highway 1 takes approximately 45 to 50 minutes, making it an easy and popular half-day trip from Morro Bay.

The closest large grocery store is Albertsons, located at 730 Quintana Rd. It is a quick 5-minute drive from the hotel. For smaller needs, the Boatyard Market Place is available on the Embarcadero, just a short walk away.

We consider a group to be a reservation of 6 rooms or more. For any group reservations, we request that you contact us directly or use the form that is spawned when you select 6+ rooms in the Check Availability function above.
Yes. However, our hotel will only recognize a credit card on which the authorized payee’s name is clearly present and visible, copy of the payee’s identification and a credit card authorization form is completed and faxed back to our property. You can contact us for the Credit Card Authorization Form and for further instructions if your reservation will have a third party payee.
